Digital Volume Tomography with the 3D Accuitomo

Beginning in 2005, my practice was using the 3D Accuitomo, which could produce a volume-tomographic image of a 3 x 4 cm cylindrical section with image intensification technology, until March of 2008, when we upgraded to the flat-panel version of the machine (8 x 8 cm).

This new technology has the following advantages:

  1. With a voxel size of 0.08 mm3, there is a significant increase in resolution, which was already excellent with the previous machine.

  2. The simultaneous depiction of the middle of the face and the upper and lower jaws facilitates orientation for the examining doctor.

  3. The improved viewer software allows dynamic examinations of anatomical regions, with brightness and contrast adjustments, to be saved to CD and sent in the mail for referrals. Additionally, this software allows exact distance and angle measurements of the relevant anatomical structures to be made on the practice PC.

  4. Conversion of the digital data to DICOM format ensures that it is compatible with all the major 3D implantology software packages.

With this machine, implants can be planned in three dimensions without the substantially higher dose of radiation that accompanies computed tomography.
You can register a patient online with the following form or print it out and have the patient bring it to our office, filled out with your specific instructions.

  5. In comparison to computed tomography and other volume tomographs, the 3D Accuitomo exposes the patient to a significantly lower dose of radiation.
